Today we are showcasing a brand new stamp set called SIMPLY RELATIVE. Well, many people when they are aproaching paper crafting hobbies always wonder what should I start with in supplies terms! Which stamp sets are the first to add to the stash! And I always recommend to get a good sentiment stamp set that can be used on any papercrafting projects! And I’m really happy that Newton’s Nook Design’s are coming with this fantastic one! I LOVE that it has big bold hand written words pared with a small simple ones. Really great design and infinite possibilities of use!

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving this stamp set away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

And here’s what I came up with today! It’s another Mother’s Day project and hope it will inspire you! I played again with LOVELY BLOOMS stamp set from Day 2 of the NND April Release and combined it with SIMPLY RELATIVE set.

Well, this time I pull my watercolors and heat embossed the beautiful hydrangea flowers with a white embossing powder on a watercolor paper, die-cut them with the coordinating dies and then simply colored the images using wet on wet technique when you basically paint with clear water first and then add color on top. The color will spread across the wet area and you will get a typical watercolor look! The key here is to work at a singular spot at a time otherwise you risk to “contaminate” the whole image loosing highlights and shadows!

While the watercolored elements were drying, I worked on my card base! I arranged a bunch of sentiment stamps from SIMPLY RELATIVE set and inked them with a light gray ink. Then I emphasized some words with a black ink to form the “World’s Best Mother” sentence and finished the card by popping the flowers on a foam tape on top.
