Easy Suspended Spinner Card – Stretch Your Digital Stamps Card Series

I’m so happy to bring you my daily post at Craftin Desert Divas blog! Today I’m sharing two cute Christmas in July projects featuring super adorable Surfing Santa and Merry & Bright Digital Stamps. The inspiration came from the amazing mood board that Craftin Desert Divas posted for their July Monthly Social Media Challenge. Look at those wonderful, cheerful and bright colors!

Today I’m going to illustrate the idea how you can get more out of your digital stamps and create very easily suspended spinner cards! The interactive cards are so fun to create and receive, but sometimes they can become a little bit tricky to make without proper supplies! For suspended spinner cards you have to do a mirror stamping if you work with regular clear stamps. That means you have to get a stamping tool or at least a stamp positioner, a mirror stamp block and a specific ink! Well, with digital stamps even the beginner carmakers can create a mirror image in no time at all and without any specific stuff!

First of all upload and open the “png” digital file of the desirable image you want to work with. CDD has tons of adorable digital stamps in their online shop and they all come with the png file I’m talking about! Then adjust the size of the stamp so that it suits your card base! Copy and paste the same image once more and then simply flipped it horizontally! Easy peasy! And there’s no need to have any specific illustrator program for that! If you are on Mac you can do it in “Pages” and “Word” works fine for Microsoft users!

I made a few attempts putting this type of card together and here’s the easiest way to do that! Once printed, fussy cut your stamps with scissors right on the edge and proceed with coloring. I used copic markers this time and as alway leaving you all the exact marker numbers I used at the bottom of this post!

Then use any black marker you have on hand and paint the trimmed edges to hide any imperfection from fussy cutting. Adhere both images from the back side sandwiching a tiny string inside!

Prepare you card base and another additional rectangle, aline them together and die-cut a circle. I used CDD Inside Scalloped Circle and Stitched In Circle Die set here! Assembling the card, I placed the suspended spinner element in the center of the circle, used a strong adhesive to glue both edges of the string to the card base and added on top the additional panel aligning the circle parts to hide the strings!

Stretch Your Digital Stamps Card Series – No-Line Watercoloring (ft. Craftin Desert Divas)

Happy Friday!

So happy you joined me! I thought it would be interesting to put up a new card series here on my blog featuring digital stamps. Well, I still use more and prefer actual stamps, but I would like to talk about why you may want to try digital ones. I’ll illustrate the advantages of them and showcase the possible ways of use. Hope you like the idea and will find it interesting!

Today I’m going talk about no-line coloring with digital stamps! I’m IN LOVE with this adorable bunny from Craftin Desert Divas Bunny Latte Digital Stamp and wanted to watercolor it. By now I did a few attempts printing digital stamps on different watercolor papers, but had no success since the watercolor papers are textured! So I figured out this simple way to transfer the image!

I started by printing Bunny Latte Digital Stamp on a printer paper. The type of paper doesn’t matter at this point. Then I cut a piece of watercolor paper slightly smaller than my A2 size card base and put my printed image underneath fixing it with a few stripes of post tape. Now if you have a light box, use it to trace the image outlines on your watercolor paper. And if, like me, you don’t have the light box, well, put your paper against the window and you’ll be able to transfer the cute bunny on your watercolor piece.

I kept the pencil lines very soft and then went over with an eraser leaving only very light outlines since I wanted my bunny to be white! On this particular card I used a high quality cold pressed watercolor paper and some professional watercolors! But you definitely can use any watercolor paper you have on hand and any watercolor media included watercolor pencils and distress or dye inks for this technique!

I kept this card clean and simple leaving the main focus on the watercolor piece. The sentiment that I used here also comes with Bunny Latte Digital Stamp. I cut out a simple fish-tail banner and added a little bit of color on it because the white card stock I used for printing didn’t match a slightly creamy color of the watercolor paper.

Today I’m going to talk about building a scene with digital stamps. Usually we print digital stamp, color them, fussy cut and them simply put on top of our cards what sometimes makes your projects very bulky and hard to mail. But you can easily come up with one layer card using digital stamps by building a digital scene! In fact, many digital stamps come as jpg and png types of file. Png files allow you to build easily a scene like the one you see on my card. And you don’t need any graphic designer skills or fancy program on your pc at all! Just use your basic “Word” program (or “Pages” if you are on Mac)!

Here are the steps to follow! Open your downloaded png file, copy an image, open “Word” or “Pages” program and paste your digital stamp. Adjust the size if you need. Repeat these steps to paste another digital stamp. Now if you want, you can put one image in front of the other: select the image, click on the right mouth button and choose “put in front” option from the menu. Continue adding this way other digital stamps you need to build the whole scene.

To help you with measures, you can set your page to the size of your card base or insert a frame rectangle or any other shape you need of the desirable dimension.

Remember that you can resize, rotate, duplicate and move very easily all your stamps unless you build the scene you like. Then all you need to do is to print it and you are ready to color! No masking, no stamping, no fussy cutting are needed! And you can play and adjust your scene as long as you like without fear to stamp in the wrong place and ruin all the card.
