Craftin Desert Divas Monthly Social Media Challenge December 2017

Happy Friday!

It’s time to play again with the Monthly Social Media Challenge from Craftin Desert Divas! And here’s another inspirational project based on the beautiful December mood board!

Today’s card turned out almost one layer. I played with the gorgeous Winter Village Digital Stamp Set, printed a simple frosty scene on a laser printer and just enjoyed coloring it with copic markers. In case you’re interested, please, check all the exact copic numbers I used here at the bottom of this post.

Once finished with coloring, I added a sentiment from Holiday Sweaters stamp set stamping it directly on my panel with a black ink. And finally added a frosty feeling applying first Multi Medium Matte adhesive and then sprinkled on top a clear glitter. I set everything aside and let air dry before shaking off the excess and gluing the colored scene to the regular A2 size card base.

Here Comes Santa Paws Card (ft. Newton’s Nook Designs)

Happy Thursday!

I’m so excited to be on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog today and give you another look at the super fun and cute Santa Paws Newton stamp set!

You probably know that I’m a huge fan of the cute mischief designed by NND and love to color him like my kitties. And so I just couldn’t let Santa Paws Newton stamp set die in my stash without a chance to appear on this year holiday cards.

Creating this cheerful and bright watercolor card, I played with my Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers. I used this particular color media a lot during last year and figured out my win win combo that gives me the best results: Bristol paper from Strathmore brand plus a watercolor brush from Pentel. While the watercolor images were drying, I prepared a simple layout die-cutting a scalloped rectangle from Fancy Edges Tag Die Set and adding a little bit of texture and interest with a white embossing paste applied through Snowfall stencil. While the embossing paste was still wet, I sprinkled a clear glitter on top and let everything air dry before removing the excess. This further step gave a frosty and snowy feeling to the card. Finally I assembled all the elements with a bit of dimension popping up the images on a foam tape.

Crafting Desert Divas – December Release – Celebration Trolls

Happy Thursday!

It’s time for the last release replay from Craftin Desert Divas! Yes, time really flies by!!! And today it’s the turn of super adorable Celebration Trolls stamp set!

The inspiration for this card came from new Lady Bug Sequins mix! And so I stamped a few cute images from Celebration Trolls set with Memento Dye Ink, colored with copic markers and fussy cut leaving a little white edge around. I set aside everything and prepared the shaker card base, die-cutting the scalloped rectangle and then the inside scalloped octagon. I also added a sentiment from the same Celebration Trolls set, a piece of clear acetate along with a foam tape adhesive and filled the shaker window with Lady Bug Sequins mix before attaching the additional panel to the card base. Finally I popped the colored stamps and finished the card with a shimmer pen and a few glossy accents.

Stretch Your Supplies Card Series (ft. Craftin Desert Divas)

Happy Saturday!

I’m so excited to guest on Crafting Desert Divas blog today with Stretch Your Supplies Card Series! This super simple modern Christmas card was made with a very limited craft supplies so you don’t have an excuse not to get your hands inky and try to make handmade cards for your friends and family if you haven’t tried yet!

All you need for this project is Sorted Shapes Stencil, a few colors of Distress Oxide inks (in case you don’t have them, you can definitively use regular Distress inks or any kind of dye or pigment inks you have on hand), a pencil, a pair of scissors, a ruler, a brush and a piece of watercolor paper.

So let’s see a step by step tutorial:

Cut and score an extended A2 size card base (5½” x 4¼”).

Use a ruler, a pencil and scissors, trace and cut two triangles one a little bit smaller than the other (see the picture above). Use them as a guide and cut out a few triangles from a watercolor paper for your project.

Take another rectangle piece of a watercolor paper (I used here Distress Cardstock from Tim Holtz since it ment to work with Distress inks) and use your Distress Oxide inks as a watercolor media, smooshing them against a sleek surface and creating a messy spots with a regular brush (see the picture above). This technique will work both with regular Distress inks or any sort of dye inks. You can use regular watercolors at this point too.

Smoosh once more on a sleek surface a few shades of inks, mix them with a translucent or white embossing paste and apply on top of the watercolor spot using the circle part of Sorted Shapes Stencil and creating a sort of snowy background. In case you don’t have an embossing paste, apply the inks directly to the watercolor base through the stencil with a foam tool or directly from an ink pad (see the picture above).

Use a chevron part of Sorted Shapes Stencil to decorate the triangles by applying the ink with a foam or directly from the ink pad. If you work with Distress or dye inks, spritz a few water droplets on top to bring some interest (see the picture above).

Add color to a narrow strip of paper, let it dry and heat emboss the sentiment from Holiday Sweaters stamp set. Of course, you can simply stamp the sentiment on top or hand draw one of your choice.

Finally assemble everything, giving a little bit of dimension with a foam tape and adhere a few matching sequins as a finish touch.

You probably know that I’m a huge fan of the cute mischief Newton designed by Newton’s Nook Designs and love to color him like my kitties. And so I just couldn’t choose any purr-fect character to put on this card! LOL!!!

I mixed and matched a few fun products creating a window scene on this clean and simple project. First of all, I stamped with a copic friendly black ink a cute kitty from Newton’s Curious Christmas and the city skyline from Snow Globes Scenes stamp sets. Then I colored everything with copic markers, fussy cut right against the stamp lines and colored the trimmed edges with a black marker to hide any imperfection. I also prepared the snowy sky background directly on my A2 size card base using a few blue shades of copic markers and started assembling everything. In case you’re interested, I’m leaving all the exact colors I used here at the bottom of this post. I added a bit of dimension with a foam tape to the layout and simply stamped the sentiment from Sentiment Of The Season set with the same black ink I used before along with Santa’s sleigh that comes with Snow Globes Scenes stamp set. Of course, I just couldn’t skip a few clear sequins and a shimmer pen as a finish touch.
