New Winslow & Rusty Collection From Purple Onion Designs Illustrated By Julian Charton

Hello and welcome!!!

I’m super excited to start sharing with you new amazing autumn collection of rubber stamps from Purple Onion Designs illustrated by very talented Julian Charlton. There are 5 adorable stamp sets in new Winslow & Rusty Collection that are perfect for cute, clean and simple card making!

My first card that features Winslow & Rusty – Harvest Friends stamp set, turned out as a fun and bright autumn scene. To start, I stamped on Copic X-Press paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink the lovely friends along with a couple of trees from Happy Winter Forest Friends and a few clouds from Happy Skies stamp sets. Both sets are illustrated by Julian as well! I colored the images with copic markers and then fussy cut with my sharp small scissors, leaving a little white edge around.

As always, I’m sharing with you the complete list of the colors used on this project: YR000-YR00-YR02-YR04-YR07-YR07-YR09-YR31; E30-E31-E33-E35; E41-E42-E43-E44; YG00-YG01-YG05-YG09; T0-T1-T3-T5-T7.

An extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) was made from Neenah Solar White paper. I inked the card front with a very light purple color using Simon Says Stamp Thistle ink and the blending brush to create a sky portion. Then added the hills and grass layers die cutting them from Newton’s Nook Designs Land Borders Die Set. Both layers were also inked with Antique Linen, Vintage Photo Oxide, Twisted Citron and Moved Lawn Distress inks. Finally I stamped the matching sentiment from Winslow & Rusty – Harvest Friends set directly on the card front and assembled all the elements with a bit of dimension.

Newton’s Nook Designs’ August Release and Giveaway – Day 2 – Paw-tumn Newton, Fall Roundabout Stamp Set and Heartfelt Wishes Stamp

Hello and welcome to Day 2 of the Newton’s Nook August release!

All the new August products will be available for purchase on Friday, August 21st at Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft retailers!

The second day of the release will surprise you with lots of different, but not less amazing designs! There is a new super adorable addition to the kitty collection with Paw-tumn Newton stamp set that comes with the coordinating Paw-tumn Newton Die Set. Then we have beautiful Fall Roundabout stamp set that, as other stamps from the roundabout series, coordinates perfectly with Circle Frames Die Set. And finally a gorgeous Heartfelt Wishes stamp set filled with many sentiments in different sizes and styles.

My first card features the cutest Paw-tumn Newton stamp set. Since the fabulous autumn image from this set is quite big, I decided to keep everything clean and simple and just highlight the stamp with watercoloring. To start, I die cut the kitty plus a couple of pumpkins and autumn leaves with the coordinating Paw-tumn Newton Die Set. I also prepared a faux stitched rectangle from Frames and Flags Die Set while I had my Big Shot die cutting machine on the desk. I worked on Arches Cold Pressed Watercolor paper since I like its texture. I saved the negative parts of the dies and used them inside my MISTI tool for a perfect alignment while I was making the stamping using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and Paw-tumn Newton stamp set. The stamps and the background were colored with regular watercolors from my customised palette.

An extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) was made from a kraft cardstock. I simply stamped the “SMILE” sentiment from new Heartfelt Wishes stamp set directly on the watercolor background and started assembling all the element together with a bit of dimension.

The second card highlights new beautiful Fall Roundabout stamp set. To start, I heat embossed with a fine white embossing powder the leaves stamp on Strathmore Bristol paper. Then I framed it using a scalloped circle from Circle Frames Die Set and proceeded with coloring using Tombow markers and a small water brush from Pentel.

As always, I’m sharing all the exact colors used here: TOMBOW MARKERS 025, 055, 126, 476, 723, 743, 905, 933, 990, 991.

An extended A2 size white card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) made from Neenah Solar White paper was embellished with a tone on tone pattern through new just released yesterday Houndstooth stencil with a plain white embossing paste just for something little extra. I let the background air dry and then assembled the card together wrapping a light kraft twine a few times around the card front, popping the colored circle on a foam tape and adding a heat embossed sentiment from the same Fall Roundabout stamp set. A few clear sparkle sequins gave a finish touch to this project.

Newton’s Nook Designs 7 Year Celebration Blog Hop

In case you don’t know, Newton’s Nook Designs is made up of a husband and wife, Jeff and Jennifer, team located in Southern Wisconsin. Newton was their adorable sweet orange tabby cat and the inspiration for the name and logo. He became the namesake of the company since one of the first stamp designs that Jen sketched was a kitty just like Newton. You can find more about NND and Newton on their website.

Since NND is celebrating their 7 year anniversary this year (Woooo-Hooooo!!!!! Congrats!!!!), the idea behind my card was to pick up 7 different kitty stamps and gather together the cutest purr-ty! To start, I die cut using the coordinating die sets and then stamped with my MISTI tool all the adorable cats. I used Strathmore Bristol paper and VersaFine Onyx Black ink since both work great with water based markers. And here’re all the stamp and die sets used on this project starting from left to right:

I colored all the stamps with Tombow markers and let them air dry. Meanwhile, I prepared a slimline card base using NND Slimline Frames And Portholes Die Set from Neenah Solar White paper where I inked a fun background through Pawprint Stencil. I used Simon Hurley’s Clear Skies ink paired with the blending brush. Then I flicked a few tiny shimmer droplets and colorful splotches just for something little extra. The sentiment from Newton’s Birthday Balloons Stamp Set was simply stamped on the background and the colored kitties were popped on foam tape for a fun dimensional look.

Have A Beautiful Birthday Card (ft. Newton’s Nook Designs)

Hello and welcome!

I’m so happy you’ve joined me today and even more excited to be on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog sharing a one layer watercolor birthday card entirely made using only one stamp set.

In fact, the beautiful flowers on this project come as a cluster with beautiful Roses stamp set. To start, I prepared a mask by stamping roses on a piece of masking paper and fussy cutting with my sharp small scissors right against the stamp lines. Next I trimmed a rectangle large enough to cover an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from Strathmore Bristol paper. I stamped the roses in the corner first using VersaFine Onyx Black ink and my MISTI tool, then I applied the mask on top to protect the image and added more flowers towards the bottom and left edges of my background. At this point I also added a simply stamped sentiment that comes from the same Roses stamp set.

I colored the amazing flowers with water based Tombow markers, playing with cool pinks (markers n.703 and n.725) and warmer shades (markers n.723 and n.743). The leaves were filled with yellowish green tones, using markers n.076 and n.133. I wanted to keep the main focus on the roses and coloring and so, as a finish touch, I added only some tiny colorful splotches and a few clear iridescent sequins.

Newton’s Nook Designs’ June Release and Giveaway – Day 3 – Neigh

I’m so excited to introduce you today amazing new Neigh stamp set! This set contains three cute horses and a lot of sentiments that comes in different sizes and styles. In case you’re interested, there’s the coordinating Neigh Die Set too.

On my stop of this hop you’ll find a clean and simple project that features some new and “old” products mixed together. First of all I die cut all the shapes I needed for this card using Neigh Die Set and Moo Die Set. I worked on Strathmore Bristol paper since my intention was to use watercolor markers. For the same reason I used VersaFine Onyx Black ink for stamping since it’s waterproof along with my MISTI tool and the negative parts of the dies to help me with the alignment while I was making stamping using Neigh and Moo stamp sets. I let the ink air dry and then colored all the elements with Tombow markers.

As always, I’m leaving you all the exact colors used on this project: TOMBOW MARKERS N45, 026, 062, 452, 723, 856, 905, 925, 946, 947, 977.

To ground my colored stamps, I trimmed a narrow strip of Tim Holtz Watercolor Cardstock where I inked some hills and grass using Hills & Grass stencil and a few clouds through Clouds stencil. As always I used my favorites Distress inks in Twisted Citron, Peacock Feather and Moved Lawn colors along with the blending brushes to achieve a nice and smooth result. The first part of the sentiment was simply stamped towards the top part of the inked piece while the other was heat embossed on a narrow strip of a black cardstock. Finally I popped all the elements on an extended A2 size white card base made from Neenah Solar White paper and finished with a few matching sequins.
