Holiday Card Series 2020 – Have A Magical Holiday Season (ft. Purple Onion Designs)

Hello and welcome!!!

I’ve popped in with another holiday card featuring charming rubber stamps from Purple Onion Designs “The Sweetest Little Town” collection.

This project is very simple and envolves only a bit of watercoloring! To start, I stamped on Fabriano Extra White watercolor paper with waterproof VersaFine Onyx Black ink the adorable Snow Crooners plus two big Covered Bridge and Frozen Pond backgrounds. I fussy cut the critters and the bridge with my sharp small scissors, leaving a little white edge around. White the Frozen Pond was framed with a faux stitched rectangle from SugarPea Designs Card Front Elements 3 SugarCut. Finally I proceeded with coloring using my Mijello Missoin Gold watercolor palette.

An extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) was trimmed and scored from Neenah Solar White paper and all the colored stamps were popped on top on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look. A narrow strip with a heat embossed in white sentiment from new Holiday Messages set finished this simple watercolor card.

Newton’s Nook Designs Winter Release and Giveaway – Day 4 – Newton’s Snowman and Happy New Year

Hello and welcome to the final day of the Newton’s Nook Winter release! Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving nice comments during this week! I want you to know that I appreciate so much all your love and support!

The last day of the release has reserved us two new absolutely amazing stamp sets. The first one features a well known, super cute kitty Newton in new Newton’s Snowman stamp set that comes with the coordinating Newton’s Snowman Die Set. Then we have small but nor less wonderful Happy New Year stamp set that can be used on its own or paired with other paper craft products to send cheerful greetings to your family and friends.

My first card features Newton’s Snowman stamp and die sets! Since it’s a watercolor project, I switched to my favorite Strathmore Bristol paper and waterproof VersaFine Onyx Black ink. As always, I made the die cutting first using the coordinating Newton’s Snowman Die Set and my Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. Once finished with stamping, I colored the cute kitties and the snowman with Tombow markers.

And here’re all the colors used by me on this card: TOMBOW MARKERS N25, N79, 158, 491, 723, 933, 969, 977, 992 plus Zig Clean Colour Real Brush markers n.45 Pale Green and n.61 Light Brown.

The scalloped background square was die cut from Frames Squared Die Set and inked through Snowfall stencil. First I added a light layer of the snowflakes with Tumbled Glass Distress ink and then highlighted a few elements with a brighter Broken China Distress Oxide shade. The matching sentiment was heat embossed in white on a dark grey cardstock and then die cut inside the faux stitched circle from Circle Frames Die Set. Finally all the elements were assembled together on an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) made from Neenah Solar White paper.

My second card that features Happy New Year stamp set, turned out as a colorful rainbow project! To start, I trimmed a piece of Neenah Solar White paper slightly smaller than a regular A2 size card base. I taped well Tiny Trees stencil on top and inked every row of trees with a different shade.

These are all the exact Distress inks used by me starting from the top: Picked Raspberry, Spiced Marmalade, Mustard Seeds, Twisted Citron, Lucky Clover, Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Wilted Violet plus Worn Lipstick.

The card base was trimmed and scored to an extended A2 size card (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) from a light grey cardstock. I popped the rainbow inked piece on a foam tape and then layered on top a vellum rectangle die cut with Frames & Flags Die Set. My favorite way to secure vellum on cards are tiny glue dots that allow to keep everything nice and clean. Happy New Year sentiment was heat embossed on black with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder which is a beautiful color in between gold and silver. Finally a few clear droplets finished this colorful card.

Holiday Card Series 2020 – Trifold Card (ft. Purple Onion Designs)

I’ve popped in with another example featuring new absolutely stunning “The Sweetest Little Town” collection of rubber stamps from Purple Onion Designs illustrated by Stacey Yacula!

Today I came up with a fun trifold project that features two wonderful big background stamps: Bakery and Toy Store. To start, I trimmed all three layers from Strathmore Bristol paper since I was going to color the stamped images with water based markers. The first piece where I stamped the Bakery measured 5″ x 4 1/4″; the second one with the Toy Store was 5 3/8″ x 4 1/4″; and the card base – 6 1/2″ x 4 1/4″.

The card base was scored 1/2″ from each side so that the whole card when closed came out as a regular extended A2 size project (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″). All the stamping was made with waterproof VersaFine Onyx Black ink. Before switching to coloring, I simply stamped the matching sentiment in the center of the card base (the biggest piece with two scored folds) from new Holiday Messages set and set this element aside for a while.

Since I came across my old set of Distress markers that I haven’t used for years, I decided to give them a try. The blending was made with a regular brush and water.

As always, here’s the complete list of all the colors used on this card: DISTRESS MARKERS Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Fossilized Amber, Peeled Paint, Moved Lawn, Pumice Stone, Weathered Wood, Worn Lipstick, Tea Dye, Vintage Photo plus TOMBOW marker n.856 (bright red shade that I didn’t find among Distress markers).

I fussy cut both colored backgrounds with my sharp small scissors following the roof lines as you can see in the pictures and glued both piece to the card base. I decided to skip all other embellishments and leave the main focus on the watercolored Christmas streets.

Purple Onion Designs New The Sweetest Little Town Holiday/ Winter Collection

I’ve popped in with another example featuring new absolutely stunning “The Sweetest Little Town” collection of rubber stamps from Purple Onion Designs illustrated by Stacey Yacula!

Today I decided to keep everything very clean and easy and just focus on no-line coloring highlighting Sweet Snow Friends (snowman, penguin & bunny) and Church (horizon) stamp sets. To start, I trimmed a piece of Fabriano Hot Pressed Watercolor paper and stamped Sweet Snow Friends trio with a light gray ink. I stamped the same image again on a piece of a masking paper, fussy cut the mask right against the stamp lines with my sharp small scissors and applied it on the watercolor piece aligning perfectly the stamped lines to protect the main image. At this point I stamped the Church background with the same light gray ink, lifted up the mask and achieved my scene with the friends standing in front with a cute winter background behind. I proceeded with coloring using regular watercolors. I reached my customized palette of fine watercolors from Daniel Smith and Winsor & Newton brands.

Once finished with coloring, I framed the watercolor piece with faux stitched rectangle from SugarPea Designs Card Front Elements 3 SugarCut that covers perfectly an extended A2 size (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) card base. The sentiment from Holiday Messages set was heat embossed in white on red and then popped on the card front.

Holiday Card Series 2020 – From Meow To You (ft. Newton’s Nook Designs)

Hello and welcome!

I’m so happy you’ve joined me today and even more excited to be on the Newton’s Nook Designs blog sharing a cute holiday kitty card featuring the most adorable new A Kitten Christmas stamp and die sets on a simple slimline card!

The minute I saw the new gorgeous kitty designs from Newton’s Nook, I immediately felt in love with them! And so I just cannot escape to play more with these cuties! To start, I die cut all three cats using the coordinating A Kitten Christmas Die Set, Strathmore Bristol paper and my Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. As usual, I saved and used the negative parts of the dies to used them later inside the MISTI tool for a perfect alignment while I was stamping the open images from A Kitten Christmas stamp set with waterproof VersaFine Onyx Black ink. I colored all the elements with Tombow markers and set aside to dry.

Here’s the complete list of all the colors used by me on this project: TOMBOW MARKERS N75, 158, 452, 665, 703, 725, 899, 946, 947, 977.

The slimline card base was trimmed from Neenah Solar White paper as 8 1/2″ x 7″ piece and then scored along the narrow side so that the final card measures 8 1/2″ x 3 1/2″. I die cut the additional faux stitched frame and three squares using the same Neenah Solar White paper for a perfect match with the card base and NND Slimline Frames and Windows Die Set. Each square piece was inked with Mermaid Lagoon Distress Oxide ink from the top edge and then embellished with a falling snow effect applied with a plain white embossing paste through Petite Snow stencil. The matching kitty themed sentiment was simply stamped in the conner of the central square with the same VersaFine Onyx Black ink since it gives a nice, crisp and black impression that pops agains the inked background. Finally I assembled all the elements together with a foam tape for a fun dimensional look and finished with a few matching sequins.
