Today I’m sharing a clean and simple card featuring adorable Get Well stamp set! This is my “boy” take on this cute stamp set. (In case you’ve missed the “girl” version, you can catch it up right here.)

I grabbed and stamped a few cute images with a copic friendly black ink on a copic friendly paper as my intention was to color with copic markers, of corse. Scroll down towards the bottom of this post in case you are interested to find all the exact colors I used here. Then I fussy cut all the colored stamps leaving a little white edge around and started working on the card base. I die-cut twice the medium circle with Inside Scalloped Circle Die set: once on the edge on a white cardstock and then from a masking paper. I used the negative part of the masking paper to mask the circle directly on the card base while I was adding a light yellow ink blended background with Fossilized Amber Distress Oxide Ink and some dots with a regular white embossing paste through Sorted Shapes Stencil. Once the embossing paste was dry, I started assembling the card, giving a bit of dimension with a foam tape and added a heat embossed sentiment from Simply Said stamp set.

Want to cheer up someone and send get well wishes? The lovely images and sentiments from this new Get Well set will help you to do that so easily! In fact, when you work with such cuteness there’s no need to add much to the layout. Clean and simple style is the best in this case!!!

I started this card, creating a non distracting background for the card front on the scalloped frame. First of all I traced with a pencil and cut out a heart window from a masking paper. Then applied the negative part of the mask to my frame, fixed Hearts Galore stencil on top and made a gradient ink blending using a foam tool and Distress Oxide ink in Worn Lipstick color.

I set aside everything and proceeded working on Get Well set. I grabbed and stamped a few cute images with a copic friendly black ink on a copic friendly paper as my intention was to color with copic markers, of corse. Scroll down towards the bottom of this post in case you are interested to find all the exact colors I used here. Then I fussy cut all the colored stamps leaving a little white edge around and started assembling the card. I prepared a fish-tale banner, heat embossing the sentiment from Simply Said stamp set with a white embossing powder, added a bit of dimension adhering all the elements on a foam tape and finally decorated with a few matching sequins, a shimmer pen and some white accents.

Enjoy Your Day – Birthday Card Series

Enjoy Your Day 2015 (1)

Hello everyone!!!

I’ve just popped up at my blog to share what I created after a few week pause. I’ve been on vacation and on my return found 35º C (95º F) in the city. We are literally melting!!!  I wish I could turn back on the sea shore… so my today’s birthday card is all about summer and it’s heavily inspired by my journey and by my new furry friend I met at the the hotel where we were staying.

Enjoy Your Day 2015 (3)

I’ve never thought that cats love staying in the pool, but I was wrong. Besides this picture finally brought me the inspiration on how to use funny kitty images from Newton’s Nook Design Summer Vacation stamp set.

I did a little bit of watercoloring using no-line technique and partial die-cutting. I’m still experimenting with Zig Clean Color Real Brush Markers and  Strathmore watercolor paper so I will let you my opinion later. Here’s the up-close look on the watercoloring… and, of course, the little mischief is colored like my cat Tommy.

Hope you like the card! I’m posting it as my entry to the Inky Paws Challenge #22 – Birthday. Here’s the inspiration photo of the challenge.

Not Feline Well? – Get Well Card Series

Not feline well 2015 (1)

Hello guys!!!

I’m back with another card inspired by the Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge #21 – Color Challenge. I received my new NND stamps just in time for the challenge and how could I resist not to give them a try?! The result is… this cute kitty card for my Get Well Card Series.

I’m going to leave a few words about some new products in my stuff that I was testing on this card: new colors of distress markers in Cracked Pistachio and Abandoned Coral, and new for me Strathmore watercolor paper. I was so glad that the inspiration photo allowed me to use the new distress marker colors, I find them just perfect for spring and summer time. As for the watercolor paper, I like that it’s completely  white. When you use it keep in mind that it’s a cold press watercolor paper so it gives you the lovely texture, but at the same time makes difficult to stamp your images neatly.

On this card I used a spot coloring technique. I hand draw a talk bubble around the sick Newton with a pencil to help me keep the shape while I was making watercoloring. To emphasize the spot area I brought a lot of Wink of Stella to the colored parts of the card (it’s hard to show in the photo all the shimmer that Wink of Stella gives to the card, but in real life it’s just gorgeous!)

Not feline well 2015 (2)

When I did the sketch of this card I though it would be nice to color the kitty in the center of the spot in order to put the focal point on him. But to be honest, once I finished watercoloring I changed my mind. If I remade this card, I would leave the hole spot area in gray tones. I suppose it will give more contrast and more impression that the Newton is sick that’s why he and the world around him has no color.

Here’s the inspiration photo of the challenge.
