Hello and welcome!
Today is my turn to get you inspired for the SugarPea Designs monthly Mix It Up Challenge! I came up with almost one layer all occasion card featuring a basic copic coloring and a great way to get more from the coordinating dies.
In case you want to play along, as well, here’s how you can do that: you have all month to play along and make a project using just the inspiration, just the sketch or Mix it Up and use both! It is totally up to you! You can find all the rules at SugarPea blog right here!!!
I love one layer cards and masking techniques that are used for creating one layer scenes though, honestly, I’m a bit lazy sometimes to fussy cut the masking paper. I often prefer to die cut every single stamp, make coloring and then assemble all the elements together on the background. But fantastic Party Balloon SugarCut from SugarPea Designs makes your and my lives much easier because it matches perfectly the outlines of Birthday Balloons stamp set. So no fussy cutting was needed this time! I managed to die cut quickly all the masks from a masking paper with the coordinating SugarCut and used them to stamp the balloons one on top of the other with copic friendly Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
Actually this project is made with two masking techniques and both are super quick and easy because of the dies. As I mentioned before, first I masked and stamped all the balloons. Then I prepared the second mask die cutting a circle from Zig Zag Stitched Circles SugarCut inside a rectangle trimmed to an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″). I positioned the negative part of the die in the center of the background keeping the balloon masks in place. I inked the circle window with Peacock Feather Distress Oxide ink and a blending brushe and finally was able to lift all the masks and proceed with copic coloring.
As always, these are all the colors combos of copic markers used on this project: RV0000-RV00-RV10-RV02; YG0000-YG00-YG01-YG05; Y0000-Y00-Y11-Y15; Y00-Y11-Y15-Y17-YR14; YR000-YR00-YR02.
Once finished with coloring, I slightly trimmed the colored piece and popped it on an A2 size white card base along with a heat embossed sentiment from the same Birthday Balloons set and a few clear sparkling sequins.
Hope you like this clean and simple card! Now it’s your turn to link up your creations for a chance to win a $50 Gift Certificate from SugarPea Designs! Can’t wait to see what you create!!! Thanks so much for stopping by and have a wonderful day!!!
