Craftin Desert Divas – July Release Sneak Peek – Mermaid Lagoon

Hello and welcome!

So happy you’ve joined me today for day three of the Craftin Desert Divas July release because today’s stamp set is soooo AMAZING and I can’t wait to introduce it to you!  It’s called Mermaid Lagoon and as you can guess it has some really fantastic mermaid stamps along with cute sentiments and a few small under the sea theme images!

All the products from the CDD July release will be available for purchase on Tuesday July, 10 at Craftin Desert Divas online shop!

I played once more with my Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers since they are so fresh and vibrant in terms of colors and I just love how watercolor technique matches the ocean theme! On this card I created a circle focal point using CDD Inside Scalloped Circle Dies and transformed it into a shaker window adhering the ocean friends right to the background and filling it with some sequins to create a water bubble effect! Here’s a little tip for you: when you are working on shaker cards or interactive projects, please, assure to use a glue that dries out NON STICKY!!! My ever favorite is Multi Medium Matte from Ranger!

And since many of you asked me about the wavy backgrounds I created featuring Jawsome and Ocean Friends stamp sets (if you missed these projects, you can find them right here), I’ll leave you step by step tutorial:

  • I started working on a peace of a Bristol paper with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers in Peacock Blue, Persian Blue, Turquise Blue and Cobalt Blue colors. I found that not all Bristol papers are the same. I personally prefer Strathmore brand.
  • I scribbled some wavy lines putting the darker blue shades towards the bottom and then extended them with a water brush. I used the largest size of the water brush from Pentel.
  • Then I repeated the previous step a few times till I was satisfied with the saturation.
  • I heat set the paper piece and then flicked a few times some water droplets on top and lift the colors with a paper towel creating a splotchy water effect.
  • Finally I mixed a small amount of a white gouache with water and applied more droplets to the background with a regular brush this time, creating more strong and evident water bubbles.

Craftin Desert Divas – June Release – Dino Dig

Happy Sunday!

Today I’m sharing a project showcasing the fantastic Dino Dig stamp set from the new Crafting Desert Divas June release! Isn’t he darn cute this adorable dino dashing in his red jeep on my card in a perfect Indiana Jones’ style!!!

Roaaar! #handmadecard by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Dino Dig stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas #craftindeserdivas

I built a little cute scene using a scalloped circle die-cut out of CDD Stitched In Circle Die set and some images from Build A Scene stamp set.

The cute dino was colored with copic markers (as always you can find all the exact colors I used here at the bottom of this post) and new Distress Oxide ink in Peeled Paint color applied directly to the card base matched perfectly the YG copic family I used on the main stamp.

Newton’s Nook Designs June Release and Giveaway – Cuppa Cacti & Cultivated Cacti

Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook Designs June Release!

Today the whole Design Team is showcasing TWO (yes, two) amazing stamp sets filled with a lot of fantastic images and both come with the coordinating dies as well!

Let me introduce the first one called CUPPA CACTI. This fun and cute set has the outline stamps of the cactuses planted in the coffee cups! So it couldn’t be any perfect for the coffee lovers crafters!

The second one is called CULTIVATED CACTI and, unlike the first one, has the amazing bold  images of succulents. So if you are a stamper, I’m sure that your heart will be stolen by this beautiful set! And more, this stamp set is also perfect for techniques and no-line coloring!

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving both stamp sets away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

And here’s what I came up with! My first card featuring CUPPA CACTI stamp set is a watercolor one! I just couldn’t resist to stamp a bunch of beautiful cactuses and just enjoy simple watercoloring!

I worked on a cold pressed watercolor paper from Arches creating the front panel and mixed some watercolors from Winsor & Newton and Schmincke brands that I have in my stash. For the sentiment I die-cut two round tags from NND Tags Times Two die set and simply heat embossed the cute sentiment that comes with the same CUPPA CACTI stamp set!

And here’s my second card made with the beautiful CULTIVATED CACTI set! You know, I’m not a great stamper, but I just couldn’t resist to ink these stamps!!!

I find myself creating recently a lot of multi layer bulky cards that are so fun to make, but sometimes could be difficult to deliver. So this time my choice was for a one layer wonder. Besides CULTIVATED CACTI set was so perfect for a fun stamping on kraft technique that I were dyeing to try for so long!!!

So I started with a kraft A2 size card base, masked with a posted tape the top part above the score line and heat embossed the sentiment with a white embossing powder. Then I repeatedly stamped with a white pigment ink some vases and succulents and let everything dry over night. Then I came back and stamped on top and slightly offset the same images with colored dye inks. Finally I popped three little bright die-cuts as a finish touch!

Would you like to win the “Cuppa Cactus” or the “Cultivated Cactus” stamp set?
Each of these sets will be given away to ONE lucky winner!

Here’s how to win:

Comment on the NND blog and Design Team blogs (see list below)! The winner will be chosen at random from the collective reveal posts. Make sure to check out each of their blogs and comment for your chance to win. You will not know which blog has been chosen so the more you comment on the better your chances are of winning! You have until Thursday June 15th at 9pm CST to comment  — winners will be announced on the blog post on Friday, June 16th.

Ciao #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

The current challenge is “Use Stripes”! I’m leaving you below a beautiful inspiration graphic created for this challenge by Newton’s Nook Design’s and hope it will inspire you to play along! Just make a project including some stripes on it and paired with at least one Newton’s Nook Designs brand stamp or die and upload it here for a chance to win a store credit at Newton’s Nook Designs online shop. You can create a card, a tag, a scrapbook page, a treat bag or any other projects related to the papercrafting.

My today’s choice was Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set. I just can’t stop using this FANTASTIC set since it reminds me so much the place where I live and more this time the cute mischief has his big adventure right in Rome!

Ciao #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

I played around the stripe theme in a few different ways starting by creating a striped heart background that looks exactly like the Italian flag! I used Darling Hearts die set making a mask out of a masking paper and ink blended Distress inks through the negative part of the mask applied to the background piece. Once removed, I replaced it with the positive part of the die-cut and added a very small amount of gray ink around the white part of the heart to give it a right shape and finished with some water droplets creating a splotchy look for more interest.

The cute kitty from Newton Dreams of Italy stamp set and Colosseum were stamped on a Bristol paper, colored with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers and die-cut with the coordinating dies. The sentiment was heat embossed on a STRIPE of a black cardstock with a white embossing powder. And finally assembling all the element together, I added a striped pattern paper I had in my stash.

That’s all for today! Hope you like my simple card and it will inspire you to join this new challenge! I’ll catch you up on the Inky Paws Challenge Blog! Have a great week!

Craftin Desert Divas – May Release Day 2

Happy Saturday!

I’ve popped in for a super quick post made for Day 2 of the Craftin Desert Divas May Release!!!

Sending Bugs And Kisses #handmadecard by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Ladybug Garden stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas #craftindeserdivas

I played again with an adorable Ladybug Garden stamp set and experimented a little bit with a new to me color media! In case you missed, you can catch up my sneak peek project featuring this set right here!

Sending Bugs And Kisses #handmadecard by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Ladybug Garden stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas #craftindeserdivas

I stamped three times with VersaMark Onyx Black ink the same cutie bear dressed like a ladybug and made my coloring with Polychromos and Prismacolor Premier colored pencils! I’ve just got a colorless blender pencil from Prismacolor brand and couldn’t wait to try it! I added a very simple non-directional shade on the edge of the stamps, layering a few similar pencils, and then blended the color towards the center.

Sending Bugs And Kisses #handmadecard by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Ladybug Garden stamp set by Craftin Desert Divas #craftindeserdivas

Since the inspiration for the color combo came from a rainbow plaid pattern paper I had on hand, I decided to add it to my project, die-cutting a scalloped frame from Fancy Frame die set and popping the bears on a foam tape above the heat embossed sentiment that comes with the same Ladybug Garden stamp set.

That all for today! Hope you like this colorful card! As always thanks so much for stopping by! And please, check Craftin Desert Divas Event Page on Facebook for more inspiration, amazing projects and sneak peeks from the Design Team, freebies and awesome giveaways!
