Newton’s Nook Designs February Release and Giveaway – Newton Loves Cake

Hello everyone and welcome!

This is the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs February Release, but it filled with a lot of cuteness and fun because little mischief Newton came back with a stunning birthday scheme stamp set!

newtons-loves-cake_tt_1In fact, who doesn’t love cake and cats? And together they make just a purr-fect blend for birthday cards! This new amazing stamp set is called NEWTON LOVES CAKE and it has the coordinating dies as well.

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving this stamp set away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

And here’s my card showcasing this SWEET kitty! I mixed and matched a few media on it! The kitty with a birthday cake was stamped with a copic friendly ink and then, of course, just simply colored with copic markers and finally die-cut with the coordinating die.

newtons-loves-cake_tt_3For the background I started with a watercolor paper and did some ink blending with distress inks from the bottom edge of my panel. Then I added a few spritzes and water droplets from Distress Sprayer bottle and picked up the excess with a paper towel.

newtons-loves-cake_tt_2To tie all the elements together I used a gold metallic spay. I flicked some droplets on the card base and the ink blended piece and then used it as a paint to add a few gold detail to Newton and the cake. The matching gold heat embossed sentiment on vellum and some matching sequins added a finish touch to the card.

Thank so much for joining NND Design Team this week! Hope you like all the amazing projects and feel inspired by this new February Release! If so, please, share your creations with #newtonsnook so I can catch you up on social media!

  3. Oh Tatiana your card is really wonderful, i love the distressed background so much.♥ And the stamp set is absolutely fantastic.♥
    Hugs and greetings

  4. Tatiana-I have tried several times to spritz water on distress ink but can’t get it to work! I even use watercolor paper. I wonder what I am doing wrong?

    • Not all watercolor papers are the same! From my experience some of them absorb the ink and trap it! Try with the coordinating Watercolor Card Stock from Tim Holtz. It works best for this technique.
