I’m back with another inspiration project for the Monthly Social Media Challenge from Craftin Desert Divas. They have an amazing mood board this month and although Valentine’s Day is over, these kind of cards are always actual. Just a little love note for someone special!
Today I played with super cute and adorable Spare Parts stamp set from CCD January Release. The idea was to create a matching heart on the background using small stamps from the set. Curious how I did it?
Very easy! Masking paper is what you need for this technique! Just trace with a pencil a heart shape on your masking paper, you can go free-hand, help yourself with a die or simply download a template from internet. Cut it out and apply to you project. Then proceed with stamping. Here’s the trick: try to stamp a lot of images around the outside edge of your mask and you’ll get a clear heart shape.
I love masking techniques, they usually take some time, but the result is always stunning!
I used a watercolor paper for my project and distress inks for coloring. The sentiment from the same Spare Parts stamp set was simply heat embossed on a piece of a black cardstock. I also created a sort of a pattern paper on one side of the card repeatedly stamping the word “beep” and added a small little heart along with a few sequins to embellish my card.
