Happy Tuesday!!!
I’m so excited to share this special card because it’s for me from my furry baby Tommy on Mother’s Day (yes, I’m mom to a kitty 🙂 … you can find his pictures here).
The layout was inspired by the Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge #20 – SKETCH Challenge.
No need to tell you how I adore kitties and love putting them on my cards. But among all kitty stamps I have in my stash, the cute mischief images from Newton’s Nook are my favorite as they remind me my cat. I just love playing with them. So for today’s card I used a non-traditional Mother’s Day stamp set called Naughty Newton and turned it into a Mother’s Day card.
To color the cat I played with new to me Prima Flowers Watercolor Pencils. They are very inexpensive, but seem to be a good quality. In some areas I applied pencils directly to the paper and then brought water with a brush, coloring other spots I picked the color straight from the pencils. What I don’t like about them is that the packs contain the same colors. I bought only two packs as I wished to try them (basic colors and skin/hair colors) and already found some doublets like black and one of the brown tones.
Ok… I don’t want to make this post too long describing how I put everything together. Only a few words about the background. Instead of leaving the card base white as I didn’t like how it looked, I repeatedly stamped with a very light ink the word “oops” from the same stamp set forming diagonal stripes. Just to add some interest, but not to distract from the main scene.
Stay tuned as I made another non-traditional Father’s Day card using the same Naughty Newton stamp set. Can’t wait to share it with you!
Thanks so much for stopping by and leaving comments!
