UR Amazing – All Occasion Card Series

Happy Friday to all!!!

I’ve got a flu these days, but today I feel better so the first thing I did in the morning is to go straight to my craft room still in pajamas and made this card. I like so much how it turned out! I used a bunch of different products and techniques on it: stamping, heat embossing, die-cutting, copic coloring, stenciling. So I hope you like it too!!!

Basically I used Crystal Clear stamp set from Paper Smooches, Newton’s Curious Christmas from Newton’s Nook Design and Simon Says Stamp’s Tiny Tag Words .

It would be hard to describe all the process so I’d like to mention only few things. Creating a jar from vellum, I tried to give it the look of glass. Once I heat embossed it with Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder, I coated it another time with VersaMark Pen, added this time Ranger Super Fine Clear embossing powder and heat set everything once again. All this gave me glossy and shiny surface. As a test on a piece of scratch vellum I did a few coats of clear  embossing powder that gave me more glossiness, but also left me with a lot tiny bubbles and I didn’t like that look so on the card I used only one coat.

The second thing I’d like to talk how important is to stretch you stamps and to get more out of them. Can you recognize the cute kitty peaking from behind the heart? It’s from the Newton’s Christmas set! Yes, I stamped it, colored, cut out and then placed in a way that it peaks from behind the die-cut heart (and not the snowman how it originally was designed by talented Jennifer Jackson from Newton’s Nook).

At least I’d like to write some words about hiding mistakes. When I inked stems, accidently some green ink finished on the flower part and left some spots on the card. It was not so obvious, but to hide those spots I took my white gel pen and added some dots around. Of course, behind some dots there are still some green spots, but you can never see them.

Love You – Love & Valentine’s Day Card Series

Happy Wednesday to All,

Inspired by the Simon’s Flickr Challenge #10 “Spots & Dots” and the cute kitties from Mama Elephant’s “Purrfect Pair” stamp set that I just cannot stop playing with, today I’m going to write a few words about birman cats also called “Sacred Cats of Burma”.

You could ask me how are the birman cats related to the spots and dots theme and why do I write about cats on the craft blog? There are two reasons I want to share with you this information.

First the birman cats are colorpointed. It means that they have darker spots that involve face, ears, legs and tail. That is the reason why I relate them to the spots & dots theme.

But the main reason is that I love cats and my furry buddy called Tommy happens to be Sacred Cat of Burma. Like most of the other cardmakers I often color kitty images as my one and since the birman cats are not so well known, people tend to think that my kitties images are Siamese. So I take a chance of this post to introduce you this breed and leave some photos of my furry mischief. Sacred Cats of Burma are distinguished by long-hair, silky coat, deep blue eyes and contrasting white “gloves” on each paw.

Freehand Watercolor Card – Masculine Birthday Cards

Happy Monday to All!

Today’s blog post is all about masculine cards. I’m pretty sure that they are a nightmare of a any cardmaker. Personally I have some difficulties every time a need to make one. So I’m going to share with you some ideas.

The simplest way to do a masculine card is to use a common images or dies such as balloons, stars or gift boxes like in my case and add the “right” masculine colors. You can go blues, grays, violets and combine them with the neutral ones (black, white, cream ecc.) The colors would immediately give the right feeling to your creations.

Otherwise if you do a card for someone special you can use the person’s favorite colors or even the colors of the favorite football, soccer, baseball or basketball team like I did on the cards I posted above. The red and yellow is inspired by the AS Roma soccer team and the violet is the official Fiorentina’s soccer club color.

I think that this type of objects can also be easily hand drawn. So if you are a beginner and don’t have any stamps or dies at all, you can take a chance to start making cards.

Happiness is a Moment with You – Love & Valentine’s Day Card Series

Hi, Readers!

I’m back with a new Valentine’s Day Card. How could I resist to these cute kitties from Mama Elephant’s “Purrfect Pair” stamp set? Couldn’t wait to play with them!!! So I stamped some images with copic friendly MFT Black Licorice Hybrid Ink and got to coloring. Inspired by the new Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #10 “SPOTS.N.DOTS” I made my little kitties full of spots.

The sentiment was “purrfect” to stamp on the Polaroid Frame which was die-cut from Mama Elephant’s brand die.

For the background and the embellishment I used some Simon’s goodies. Two days ago I finally received the new Tiny Dots stencil and couldn’t wait any longer to give it a try. I mounted everything with some foam tape and added three little hearts which I colored pink with the same copic color R12 I used on the kitties’ snouts.

Got Cupcake? – Birthday Card Series

Happy Thursday to All!

It seems there have pasted ages since I last sat down to my table to make a card. Finally the holidays are over and I had a chance to play with some Simon’s new products I bought during Thanksgiving sale (yes, I was waiting so long to take them out of the pack since I was too busy with my Holiday Card Series). And here is the result: birthday card for my sister.

I used a copic colored goat image from SSS BIRTHDAY FARM ANIMALS stamp set. I brought some pinks on the image and the background trying to keep it feminine.

I managed to use a lot of stuff and techniques on this card and at the same time I left it quite simple. Besides copic coloring I applied distress ink to the background and the Wendy Vecchi white embossing paste through the SSS ZIG ZAG DOT stencil, did a bunch of die-cutting and mounted everything using the die-cut-in-laid technique.
