Today the Newton’s Nook Designs and Inky Paws Challenge Team members are hopping along to Send Uplifting Smiles! Our goal today is to help brighten your day with uplifting and encouraging cards that will make you smile! We know that many of you are under stay home orders to help fight the spread of the Coronavirus and during this time of social distancing it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with family and friends! We encourage you to spend some time creating and sending cards to those who matter to you! Check out all the stops in this hop to get inspired on ways you can send uplifting smiles!
For my stop on this hop I created a very simple card featuring small, but so adorable Newton’s Rainy Day stamp set. Working on this project I invested all my time in no-line coloring adding a bit of happy bright colors in a rainbow order. To start, I stamped the kitty under an umbrella and a little frog on Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress ink since it’s light and reactivates with water. I colored the stamps with water based Tombow markers first, let the piece air dry and then added more details with Polychromos colored pencils.
As always, I’m leaving you all the exact colors used on this card: TOMBOW MARKERS N75, N79, 055, 133, 173, 249, 452, 526, 606, 676, 685, 703, 835, 905, 933 plus Zig Clean Colour Real Brush marker n.61 Light Brown.
One part of the sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of a black cardstock and the other was simply stamped under the colored image. I trimmed the watercolor piece to fit on an extended light gray A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) and adhered it on a foam tape. As a final touch I placed three little sparkling dots using liquid Sparkling Crystal Drops from Gina K Designs.
