Hello guys!!!
The summer is over (Hope everyone had a great time and much fun!?) and I’m back in town and on my blog with this new card created for Inky Paws Challenge #24 – Sketch!
Finally had a chance to play with a new for me Newton’s Naptime stamp set. This sleepy kitty is absolutely adorable, isn’t he? And he is so fun to color too!!!
I took as an inspiration for my copic coloring a soft pastel color recipe from Simon Says Stamp and Shari Carroll. Here’s the picture of it.
Once finished the coloring (I put the exact copic marker numbers I used on the card at the end of the post), I assembled everything trying to take a pick on the sketch: I die-cut, heat embossed and inked an additional panel for the background; die-cut several times Painted Enjoy word die from Simon Says Stamp to match and emphasize the stamped sentiment “Enjoy Your Day” taken from NND Newton’s Summer Vacation stamp set. To interpret the sketch in my own way I used the dies instead of the fish-tale banners. The one on the left was glued directly to the back panel and the other was applied using inlaid die-cut technique.
A little bit of Wink of Stella and some sequins and the card was done!
Only one more consideration before the post will become too long. If you would like to reproduce the similar background with distress inks and water droplets, I highly recommend to use watercolor paper for this technique. Neenah Solar White paper goes well with copics and ink blending, but it doesn’t hold water at all. In fact, I was not able to achieve the desired look on this paper by adding just water and had to fix the panel by mixing ink and a some water on the acrylic block and putting then some droplets with a water brush.
As always thanks so much for stopping by!
Tatiana
