Ho! Ho! Ho! #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set by SugarPea Designs #sugarpeadesigns

Hello and welcome!

Today is my turn to get you inspired for the SugarPea Designs monthly Mix It Up Challenge! I decided to stretch my supplies and create a holiday winter scene out of non holiday products!

In case you want to play along, as well, here’s how you can do that: you have all month to play along and make a project using just the inspiration, just the sketch or Mix it Up and use both! It is totally up to you! You can find all the rules at SugarPea blog right here!!!

I’m really satisfied with the creative background made on this card! Let’s see how all the elements came together!

The night sky background was inked directly on an extended A2 size white card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) made from Neenah Solar White paper. I used Tumbled GlassSalty Ocean and Chipped Sapphire Distress inks with the ink blending foams instead of the blending brushes to achieve an intense and saturated look. I heat set the ink and then added the white falling snow using Falling Snow Stencil and a plain white embossing paste.

The roof came from a piece of a bright red cardstock trimmed approximately 2 inches wide. I die cut from a dark red cardstock and glued on top Scale Cover Plate SugarCut to emulate roof tiles. I used Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive since it dries matte and clear. Easy! Right!?

The snow on the roof top was simply die cut from the same Neenah Solar White paper with a faux stitched curve line that comes inside Card Front Element Builder SugarCut.

The chimney came together from a small red rectangle trimmed from a bright red cardstock and a white top die cut with Sentiment Strip SugarCut. I added a brick pattern to the red portion by inking the paper with Barn Door Distress ink through English Bond Brick Wall Stencil. Later I added some shadows with R39 copic marker to the bricks.

Finally the brick wall underneath the roof is just a narrow strip of paper inked through English Bond Brick Wall Stencil with Vintage Photo Distress Oxide ink.

The cute Santa and the sentiment come from Here Comes Santa Claus stamp set. I stamped the outline image on Copic X-Press paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink, colored with copic markers and fussy cut using my sharp small scissors. While the “Ho! Ho! Ho!” sentiment was simply heat embossed in white in the center of a black circle. Finally I assembled all the elements together, popping the roof, Santa and the sentiment on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look. A generous coat of a clear shimmer pen applied on Santa Claus gave a finish touch to this holiday card.

As always, I’m leaving the complete list of all the colors used on this card: COPIC MARKERS

Holiday Card Series 2020 – Merry Christmas Card For The SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge #72

Merry Christmas #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Snowflake Tag SugarCut by SugarPea Designs #sugarpeadesigns

Hello and welcome!

Today is my turn to get you inspired for the SugarPea Designs monthly Mix It Up Challenge! Inspired by a not holiday October graphic and Halloween colors, I decided to challenge myself and came up with a holiday card!

In case you want to play along, as well, here’s how you can do that: you have all month to play along and make a project using just the inspiration, just the sketch or Mix it Up and use both! It is totally up to you! You can find all the rules at SugarPea blog right here!!!

To start, I played with the colors from the picture above and inked a piece of Tim Holtz Watercolor Distress cardstock using Wilted Violet, Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Wild Honey Distress inks along with the blending brushes to achieve a soft transition between the colors. I flicked a few tiny drops of a pearlescent solution and set the piece aside.

Meanwhile I die cut tree big and two small snowflakes from Snowflake Tag SugarCut, using Neenah Solar White paper. I completely covered the snowflakes with Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive using a small flat brush and then dipped them inside the jar with Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter. I pressed the glitter with a tip of my finger to secure the glitter layer on the snowflakes and let them air dry for a couple of hours.

It’s so hard to catch in the pictures the beauty, vintage shine and texture of Clear Rock Candy Distress Glitter, but I assure you that it looks absolutely GORGEOUS in real life. But If you want to save time and don’t get messy with glitter, you can simply die cut the snowflakes from a glitter paper.

The sentiment was composed from a die cut Merry Word with Shadow SugarCut and Everyday Sentiments stamp set. I die cut the shadow layer from Neenah Solar White paper and then glued on top the black word “Merry” using the same Multi Medium Matte liquid adhesive since it dries clear and matte. The “Christmas” word was heat embossed with a fine white embossing powder on a narrow strip of a black cardstock. Finally all the elements were assembled together on an extended A2 size white card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″), trimmed and scored again from Neenah Solar White paper.

Holiday Card Series 2020 – Warmest Wishes Card For The SugarPea Designs Mix It Up Challenge #71

Warmest Wishes #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Open Book SugarCut by SugarPea Designs #sugarpeadesigns

Hello and welcome!

Today is my turn to get you inspired for the SugarPea Designs monthly Mix It Up Challenge! I came up with a holiday  card that opens my Holiday Card Series 2020! Wow! Can’t believe it’s time for Christmas cards again!

In case you want to play along, as well, here’s how you can do that: you have all month to play along and make a project using just the inspiration, just the sketch or Mix it Up and use both! It is totally up to you! You can find all the rules at SugarPea blog right here!!!

To start, I made a bunch of die cutting using Open Book SugarCut to achieve all the floral elements I needed from Neenah Solar White paper. It was easier for me to use a plain white cardstock and then add colors, using my copic markers, but you definitely cat switch directly to a colorful cardstock or a patterned paper instead.

As always I’m sharing with you all the exact colors used here: COPIC MARKERS R11-R12-R14-R22-R27 plus RV10; YG21-YG01-YG23.

An extended A2 size card base was made from the same Neenah Solar White paper that I used before. I masked a wide stripe directly on the card front using a post-it sticky tape. Next I applied and secured Torn Strips Stencil on top and inked the pattern with a very light hand using two tones of the light pink dye inks from my stash and the blending brushes. I also prepared a narrow stripe cut out from a black cardstock where I repeatedly heat embossed the sentiment from Everyday Sentiments stamp set. Once glued the sentiment stripe directly to the card front, I arranged the flowers and leaves in a circle and finished with a few clear sparkling sequins.
