Since my intention was to color with watercolor markers, I made the stamping on Strathmore Bristol paper with VersaFine Onyx Black ink because it’s waterproof. I colored all the stamps with watercolor markers and then fussy cut right against the stamp lines. Just to finish with colors, I quickly inked an additional rectangle with Mermaid Lagoon Distress ink creating a sky portion to put behind the bear and the tree. For the background I used new Let It Snow Background stamp. I stamped it twice: first on a white card base with a light gray ink and then heat embossed with a white embossing powder on an inked sky. The matching heat embossed sentiment from the same Happy Winter Forest Friends set was added on a strip of a bright pink cardstock and popped on a foam tape along with other colored images.

As always, I’m leaving the complete list of all the colors used on this project: TOMBOW MARKERS N79, N95, 090, 133, 126, 452, 723, 725, 755, 977; ZIG CLEAN COLOUR MARKERS n.61 Light Brown, n.62 Dark Brown.

On my card I started with a piece of Watercolor Cardstock from Tim Holtz and a masking paper die cut in a circle shape. I masked the central part of the rectangle and blended around Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide, Wilted Violet Distress Oxide and Black Soot Distress inks. Next I removed the mask and added Squeezed Lemonade and Mustard Seeds Distress ink in the center creating the Moon in the night sky. I added a few water droplets on top of the inked background and heat set everything before stamping the silhouette images and sentiment banner from Santa’s On The Way stamp set. The final touch added a heat embossed falling snow from another new Let It Snow Background stamp that comes as a one big piece.

Today I’m featuring English Rooftops stamp. It’s a big bold solid stamp that can cover the whole horizontal layout of the A2 size card front. I used VersaFine Onyx Black ink and simply stamped it on Neenah Solar White paper. Next I added the Moon and a few clouds from new Happy Skies stamp set using masking technique. Finally I inked the top part of the card front with Peacock Feathers, Blueprint Sketch and Wilted Violet Distress inks creating a night sky. I let everything air dry well and then heat embossed on top new Let It Snow Background stamp. The final touch added the matching white sentiment that also comes from new Happy Winter Forest Friends stamp set.

Bear Hugs Card – All Occasion Card Series

Bear Hugs 2015 (2)

Hi, guys!

A quick post on how I put on the card one of my copic colored girls from Simon Says Stamp’s “Slumber Party” set.

I love coloring little people images and like this stamp set so much that I just can’t leave it unfinished. I tried to keep it simple and leave the main focus on the copic colored girl since it took so much time and effort to be done.

And what the best way to tie the card together if not your own background! ( 🙂 LOL!!!) I find myself to reach this technique very often. Making cards makes me realize that the final result depends on giving to all the element you put on the card the same theme. Let me explain better this concept. For this particular card the two key elements are “peach color” and “night“. On coloring the little girl in pajamas I brought the same peach color on the bear’s belly so that they don’t seem to be the two things apart. I made a gradient sunset looking background starting with the peach color as the lightest and brought it to the dark purple night sky. I used the coordinated stamps from the set adding some extras: the stars and the moon on the night sky.

I’m very pleased with the final result. You can find more ideas about your own backgrounds on Simon Says Stamp’s Wednesday Challenge Blog.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Holiday Card Series 2014 # 13 – Naughty or Nice?

NND naughty or ...(1)

Hi, guys!

here’s another holiday kitty card. How could I resist to the Newton’s Curious Christmas stamp set and its cute cat images?

This card is not a usual size. It’s 5½ by 5½ inches square card. And it’s rather thick. So it’s better not to send it through the mail, but give it personally to someone.

Before stamping I marked the square areas using my T-square rule on the watercolor paper and masked them with some Post-it notes so that the stamp images remain inside the squares. There is no much to say about coloring I made with distress markers. The only thing I want to share with you is that you might keep in mind that the distress markers reactivate every time you use water. So when I came to put the glitter accents with my Wink of Stella clear glitter brush pen some colors became bleeding. It’s not a huge deal and I left it like it is. After all it’s a handmade card and nobody expects it to be “perfect”. However the next time for blending the small areas I’ll use directly Wink of Stella since you need a very small amount of it.

NND naughty or ...(2)

Glossy Accents added finishing touches to the card.

This is my another entry to NND Inky Paws Challenge #16 – Christmas Theme. Go ahead to their blog and check out what other cardmakers created with their stamps.
