Newton’s Nook Designs Send Uplifting Smiles Blog Hop!

Today the Newton’s Nook Designs and Inky Paws Challenge Team members are hopping along to Send Uplifting Smiles! Our goal today is to help brighten your day with uplifting and encouraging cards that will make you smile! We know that many of you are under stay home orders to help fight the spread of the Coronavirus and during this time of social distancing it’s more important than ever to keep in touch with family and friends! We encourage you to spend some time creating and sending cards to those who matter to you! Check out all the stops in this hop to get inspired on ways you can send uplifting smiles!

For my stop on this hop I created a very simple card featuring small, but so adorable Newton’s Rainy Day stamp set. Working on this project I invested all my time in no-line coloring adding a bit of happy bright colors in a rainbow order. To start, I stamped the kitty under an umbrella and a little frog on Arches Hot Pressed Watercolor paper with Antique Linen Distress ink since it’s light and reactivates with water. I colored the stamps with water based Tombow markers first, let the piece air dry and then added more details with Polychromos colored pencils.

As always, I’m leaving you all the exact colors used on this card: TOMBOW MARKERS N75, N79, 055, 133, 173, 249, 452, 526, 606, 676, 685, 703, 835, 905, 933 plus Zig Clean Colour Real Brush marker n.61 Light Brown.

One part of the sentiment was heat embossed on a strip of a black cardstock and the other was simply stamped under the colored image. I trimmed the watercolor piece to fit on an extended light gray A2 size card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) and adhered it on a foam tape. As a final touch I placed three little sparkling dots using liquid Sparkling Crystal Drops from Gina K Designs.

Newton’s Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

Hello and welcome to the Newton’s Nook Designs 6th Annual Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

The Newton’s Nook Designs Team is hopping along today to share some great Sweet Treats – just in time for Valentine’s Day!

For my stop on this hop I made a classic Italian Panna Cotta in jars decorated with some fresh strawberries. Panna cotta means ‘cooked cream’ in Italian. It includes very few ingredients, and is basically a simple mixture of cream, sugar, and vanilla. I decorated my sweet treats with Valentine’s Day themed hearts and small tags to give an extra special touch to the jars!

To start, I die cut a few round tags using Tags Times Two Die set from a plain red cardstock and a patterned paper that I found in my stash.

Some tags were decorated with a heat embossed “handmade with LOVE” sentiment from Made From Scratch stamp set and the others – with a simple die cut small heart that comes from Newton’s Valentine Die Set. I tied a bow on each couple of tags and fixed them on the jars with a glue dot.

The heart toppers come from Candy Hearts stamp and die sets. This stamp set has a bunch of tiny sentiments that fit perfectly inside the open heart shape. I heat embossed a few random stamps on the same red cardstock I used before for the tags and stamped the others with a dye red ink on a plain white paper. I die cut all the hearts using the coordinating Candy Hearts Die Set and added them to the wooden sticks, fixing with another die cut heart glued from the back side.

And here’s the recipe of this simple dessert.

Ingredients:

• 6 g/0.21 oz. fish gelatin in leaves/sheets
• 500 ml cream
• 80 g/2,82 oz. granulated sugar
• 1 vanilla bean

To start, place fish gelatin leaves (or sheets) into cold water and let them sit for a few minutes to soften. In the meantime, split vanilla bean into two parts with a knife. Heat cream, sugar, and vanilla together in a saucepan until hot (without letting the mixture boil) and the sugar is dissolved. Once hot, add the softened gelatin and immediately whisk until smooth. Make sure the mixture is completely smooth. Let the mixture cool down a little and then pour it into the jars. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or until completely set. Top with fresh strawberries, berries or berry sauce.

Newton’s Nook Designs Deck the Halls with Inky Paws Blog Hop!

Today just to stay on topic I decided to put up some happy holidays lights on my card and play more with small, but super cute Holiday Lights stamp set. To start, I die cut a bunch of small lights using the coordinating Holiday Lights Die Set on Neenah Solar White paper. When you have to make multiple images the coordinating dies comes so handy and saves a lot of time! Since the light bulbs are such a simple shape, I decided to make no-line coloring with copic markers because it’s fun and allows you also to practice and try different color combos.

I stamped the light bulbs from Holiday Lights set with a light dye ink using my MISTI tool and the negative part of the die and finally colored all the lights with copic markers. Working on the background, I inked Gingham pattern with a very light gray ink and stamped in the center the matching sentiment from the same Holiday Lights stamp set. I traced two curved lines with a black marker to use as the light strings. Assembling the card, I popped all the colored elements on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look and added a generous coat of a clear shimmer pen.

Newton’s Nook Designs 6 Year Celebration Blog Hop Plus Video

If you’re still in doubt, I have another inspiration project for you featuring new small, but not less adorable Shrimp Cocktails stamp and the coordinating die sets. The mirror images inside this set inspired me for an interactive spinner card! So go ahead and watch the whole video tutorial below!

I used Strathmore Bristol paper and VersaFine Onyx Black ink for stamping. The shrimps were colored with Tombow markers.

These are all the colors used in the video: n.062, n.173, n.452, n.873, n.905.

An A2 size card base and an additional rectangle were prepared from Neenah Solar White 80 lb paper. I used the largest circle die from Frames Squared Die Set for the see through windows and the thing silver metallic thread from DMC brand for the interactive spinner mechanism. The inner pard of the card base was embellished with a light teal striped pattern paper from MFT Rainbow Stripes paper pad. And finally the sentiment from the same Shrimp Cocktails set was simply stamped on a piece of a light yellow cardstock.

Newton’s Nook Designs Sweet Treats Blog Hop!

For my stop on this hop I created some sweet treat bags perfect to give an extra special touch for your San Valentine’s gifts!!!

To start, I prepared paper bags from a plain white light weight cardstock. Before assembling the bags, I used a small heart from Woodland Duos stamp set for the first bag and a big love sentiment from Uplifting Wishes stamp set for the second one and repeatedly stamped them creating my own pattern paper. I used Hero Arts Pale Tomato and Simon Says Stamp Lipstick Red dye inks for all the stamping on these projects.

Next I assembled both treat bags and decided to decorate them with a big heart and the word “LOVE” both die cut from Darling Hearts set. For a perfect match I used the same red dye inks that I’ve mentioned before and an ink blending tool to add colors on the hearts. Finally I adhered everything on one side of the treat bags along with a little bow. Easy peasy!!! What do you think?
