Crafting Desert Divas – March Release Sneak Peek – Hitched

Hello and welcome!

I’m super excited to be on the Craftin Desert Divas blog today with a daily post featuring brand new and sooooooo adorable Hitched stamp set from the Craftin Desert Divas March Release.

I’m sure you will fall in love with the new romantic stamp set that I’m sneak peeking today! All the images from Hitched stamp set are so fabulous, elegant and dreamy! And so I went with a clean and simple design, making a focus on the stamps and coloring.

Want to recreate this cute card? Nothing more easy! Just follow the step by step tutorial I’m leaving you with.

Take a piece of a masking paper, trace a heart shape with a pencil and cut the heat window with scissors or an exacto knife.

Trim a rectangle from a white cardstock slightly smaller than A2 size card base (5″ x 3¾”) and place the negative part of the mask with a heart window on top.
Add Distress Oxide ink in Picked Raspberry color with an ink blending tool.

Then add and fix on top Hearts Galore stencil without lifting up the mask and add more color through the stencil.

At this point remove both the stencil and the mask and set everything aside.
Stamp the image of your choice from Hitched stamp set with a copic friendly black ink on a copic friendly paper, proceed with coloring and fussy cut it leaving a little white edge around. I’m leaving all the exact copic markers I used here at the bottom of this post.
Start assembling the card by preparing an A2 size card base from a light gray cardstock, stamping the sentiment from Simply Said set with the same black ink you used before for a perfect match and popping up some elements on a foam tape for a bit of dimension.

Finally add some shimmer and a few matching sequins.

Happy Anniversary Card

Hello everyone!

It’s been a while I haven’t used kraft cardstock on my cards and totally forgot how gorgeous it looks with white embossing.

So today I’m sharing a very simple and elegant Happy Anniversary card that was inspired by the Newton’s Nook Designs Inky Paws Challenge #35 – Burlap and Lace.

Here’re the main steps of the creative process. I partially die-cut a faux stitched panel using the largest frame from Simon Says Stamp’s Stitched Rectangles set and heat embossed on it with white embossing powder the champagne flutes and the sentiment from Years of Cheers stamp set by Newton’s Nook Designs. Then I created a faux lace heat embossing on vellum with the same white embossing powder a gorgeous pattern piece from Chantilly Trim stamp set by WPlus9 (sorry… can’t find the valid link for this set. I guess it was discontinued 😦 ). It’s a little bit challenging embossing such a large and intricate piece on vellum, but tons of antistatic powder did the trick. A foam tape brought some dimension and interest on the card and a little tiny pearl on the twine knot was added as a finish touch.

Wishing You A Happy Anniversary – Wedding And Congrats Card Series (ft. WPlus9 stamps)

Hello guys!

I’ve just received WPlus9’s Wishing You stamp set with the the cutest bunnies I’ve even seen and put them immediately into use. These bunnies seem to be so dreamy and romantic that I created a watercolor night sky scene for the background. This time I decided to try my Sakura Koi Watercolors Box. I noticed that the colors inside are very pigmented so maybe I need to mix them with more water on the pallet next time for a more soft watercolor look. However I went ahead and added falling stars in the sky with a white embossing paste and heat embossed the sentiment. I used Ranger Liquid Platinum embossing powder for this card and I must confess to like it very much. It has a very neutral color that goes great with everything, but at the same adds a beautiful metallic shimmer to the project.

I’ve almost forgot to mention that after stamping the bunnies with a waterproof ink, I used Drawing Gum Liquid Frisquet from Pebeo to protect them while I was painting the background. Keep in mind that before removing the mask after painting, the watercolor piece must be completely dry otherwise you risk to peel the paper.

Mr. & Mrs. – Wedding & Congrats Card Series

Hello everyone!!!

this card was heavily inspired by the last one I posted for the Newton’s Nook Inky Paws Challenge #21 – Color Challenge. This time I played with NND Years of Cheers stamp set and created a spot background using masking technique, Simon Says Stamp’s Irregular Dots stencil and some inks.

It may seem a little bit tricky to do, but only at first sight. Let me explain all the steps I did. First I stamped the champagne glasses and put the liquid masking fluid on them. Actually my first attempt was not successful as I stamped the images with Ranger’s Archival Ink and although it’s a very resistant waterproof ink that I let air dry for a hole day and night, it started bleeding once I put the ink through the stencil. (I still wonder why? Maybe because of the liquid masking fluid I put on top?) So I tried to stamp the image with a pigment ink – VersaFine Onyx Black – and heat set everything with clear embossing powder (I linked all the products I used in the supplies list). Then I die-cut from masking paper a square of the same size as the card base with a heart shape inside. First I applied the positive heart shape on the cardbase and blended color inks through the stencil, then I used the negative part of the die-cut masking sheet to blend a gray ink in the center of the card. At this point the trick is to put the negative part before removing the positive one. Otherwise you would never apply the negative part in the right place.

Once I finished blending, I slightly moved the stencil aside and traced the circle shapes with Copic Multiliner. At this point the background was done. I let the inks air dry for some time, then removed the liquid mask from the glasses and did a very simple copic coloring.

As a final touch I added clear Wink of Stella and a big amount of Glossy Accents on the image in the center to make it look like glass.

Wow!!! While I was writing all the description of the cardmaking process, it started to seem tricky even for me. But I assure you that this card didn’t take me so long at all (except of the time the masking fluid takes to dry) and came out pretty easily!
