Today we are showcasing a brand new stamp set called SIMPLY RELATIVE. Well, many people when they are aproaching paper crafting hobbies always wonder what should I start with in supplies terms! Which stamp sets are the first to add to the stash! And I always recommend to get a good sentiment stamp set that can be used on any papercrafting projects! And I’m really happy that Newton’s Nook Design’s are coming with this fantastic one! I LOVE that it has big bold hand written words pared with a small simple ones. Really great design and infinite possibilities of use!

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving this stamp set away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

And here’s what I came up with today! It’s another Mother’s Day project and hope it will inspire you! I played again with LOVELY BLOOMS stamp set from Day 2 of the NND April Release and combined it with SIMPLY RELATIVE set.

Well, this time I pull my watercolors and heat embossed the beautiful hydrangea flowers with a white embossing powder on a watercolor paper, die-cut them with the coordinating dies and then simply colored the images using wet on wet technique when you basically paint with clear water first and then add color on top. The color will spread across the wet area and you will get a typical watercolor look! The key here is to work at a singular spot at a time otherwise you risk to “contaminate” the whole image loosing highlights and shadows!

While the watercolored elements were drying, I worked on my card base! I arranged a bunch of sentiment stamps from SIMPLY RELATIVE set and inked them with a light gray ink. Then I emphasized some words with a black ink to form the “World’s Best Mother” sentence and finished the card by popping the flowers on a foam tape on top.

Newton’s Nook Designs April Release and Giveaway – Lovely Blooms

Happy Tuesday!

And thanks for joining the Newton’s Nook Designs Design Team for Day 2 of the April Release!

For My Amazing Mother #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Lovely Blooms Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnookToday we are showcasing a brand new beautiful and very special stamp set called LOVELY BLOOMS along with the coordinating dies. I really love this one and I’m sure you’re going to see lots of my projects in the future featuring this stamp set! It has amazing floral stamps designed in a very simple, but so adorable way! It’s a very versatile set as well that can cover all the occasions! Plus it’s so fun to use!!!

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving this stamp set away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

Since Mother’s Day is approaching I decided to make a card for this occasion and hope it will inspire you! I thought it would be fun to use the coordinating dies to create a shaker element and fill it with “faux water”. And here’s how I made it!

For My Amazing Mother #handmade card by Tatiana Trafimovich #tatianacraftandart - Lovely Blooms Stamp set by Newton's Nook Designs #newtonsnook

First of all I stamped a bunch of flowers, stems and leaves from LOVELY BLOOMS stamp set, colored them with copic markers and die-cut using the coordinating dies. I also die-cut the jar element on a white A2 size panel. Then I adjusted the flower cluster popping some elements on a foam tape. At this point I also glued directly to my card base the bottom part of the stems so that they seem to be inside the jar.

I used a heat resistant acetate for the shaker part and heat embossed the jar stamp on it using Versafine ink and a clear embossing powder. Be sure to used a ton of antistatic powder for this or you will finish with the embossing powder sticking everywhere on you acetate! In case you don’t have the heat resistant acetate, you can simply use the one you have on hand and stamp the jar with any ink suitable for slick surfaces like StazOn, for example!

I added a foam tape to my front panel and filled with sequins the shaker area before adhering it to my card base! Finally I simply heat embossed the sentiment on a black card stock with a white embossing powder and added to my card.

Personalized Cards

MFT Name Day 2016 (1)

Happy Monday to All!

Hope that today’s post will illustrate you some ideas how you can customize your handmade cards and make them even more personalized and special. On the card I’m sharing in this post I added a name of the recipient. I think that this type of cards can fit any occasion. They are great for birthdays, name days, births, graduations, mother’s and father’s days, anniversaries or just simply to say hello to your friend.

Besides you can play with the recipient’s favorite colors, add their favorite animals or flowers or maybe color some fun critters like their pets. The possibilities are endless.

MFT Name Day 2016 (2)

Now a few words about how this particular card came out. As you understood it was made for someone special since there’s his name displayed on the banner (LOL!), but as for the layout and the colors I was inspired by the My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge #282 and Color Challenge #46.

It was a little bit challenging for me to keep the card so light, but to be honest I’m very satisfied with the final result because I managed to use so many products and finished to have (at least in my opinion) a very pleasant result. The pattern paper that you can see at the bottom of the card was made by embossing the paw print stamp from MFT Cool Cat set with a clear dull embossing powder on a cream card stock, the light blue panel on top was done using ink blending technique, the cute funny cats from the same stamp set were water colored with my new Mijello Mission Gold set and the die-cut banner was finished with copic markers (R00-R0000-colorless blender). Of course, at the end the sequins mania makes me adhere some sequins here and there.

Hope this post will give you some inspiration! As always thanks so much for stopping by and have a great week!

Enjoy Your Day – Birthday Card Series

WP9 Enjoy Your Day 2016 (1)

Hello guys!

I finally found some time last Sunday and inked the beautiful stamps from WPlus9 Freehand Florals set that were dyeing in my stash and came out with a floral composition that you can see in the picture above.

WP9 Enjoy Your Day 2016 (3)

Perhaps the most difficult and time-consuming  part of the whole cardmaking process was a search of a perfect color combo among my dye inks as this stamp set is a layering one. It means that you need two or three different gradient shadings of the same color to stamp on top of each other. At the end of this post I’m going to share some combination that worked for me, I used Hero Arts and Simon Says Stamp’s dye inks so I think many of you have them too.

WP9 Enjoy Your Day 2016 (2)

Some elements on the card were die-cut and mounted on a foam tape; and some were stamp straight on the card base and created the underlayer. For the sentiment I used a black card stock as I feel like it brings more contrast and makes the sentiment stand out against the colorful flowers. A few sequins and a little bit of saddle shimmer finished this card!

As always thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me comments! I really appreciate it a lot!

Happy Mother’s Day Card (ft. Altenew)

Altenew Mother's Day 2016 (2)

Happy Monday to All!

I made some more Mother’s Day cards to give to my friends and parents. The one I’m sharing today is all about flowers again (as they seem to be the perfect scheme for this occasion), but totally different from the previous one in terms of techniques I used.

So if you are a stamper, this card is for you! 😉

Altenew Mother's Day 2016 (3)

The most difficult part of the whole card making process was finding the perfect color combo for the layering roses that are from Altenew’s Vintage Flowers stamp set. For the one that has peachy tones I used Simon Says Stamp’s inks: Pale Blush, Apricot and Coral Reef. Another one is stamped using SSS Cotton Candy, SSS Teeny Bikini, SSS Hot Lips and Hero Arts Pale Tomato. The leaves are stamped with SSS Mint, SSS Mint Candy and SSS Lucky inks. All the above mentioned inks are dye based.

Altenew Mother's Day 2016 (1)

I repeatedly stamped some flowers using my MISTI tool and then simply cut them out with the scissors. Assembling everything I added some dimension with a foam tape and a little bit of contrast with the black areas. Some clear droplets and a lot of Wink of Stella Clear Glitter marker finished the card.

As always thanks so much for stopping by and leaving me comments! I really appreciate it a lot!
