Hello and welcome to the final day of the Newton’s Nook Holiday release! Thanks so much for joining me during this week and for all your wonderful comments and love! I appreciate them SO MUCH!!!
All the new Holiday products will be available for purchase on Friday, October 23th at Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft retailers!
The last day of the holiday release has reserved us a super cute Holiday Post stamp set that comes with the coordinating Holiday Post Die Set. No need to tell you that I’m totally in love with the adorable critters! Plus there’s an amazing Christmas Roundabout stamp set that enriches the NND Roundabout collection and as all other stamps coordinates perfectly with Circle Frames Die and Banner Trio Die sets.
Giveaway alert!! NND is giving away both new Holiday post and Christmas Roundabout stamp sets to lucky winners so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!
The super adorable critters from Holiday Post stamp set are a way too cute and don’t need much thinking on the card layout! In fact, I tried to highlight the beautiful design of this set with coloring and kept the background very simple. To start I die cut from Copic X-Press paper the critters, using the coordinating Holiday Post Die Set and my Big Shot Die Cutting Machine. As always, I saved and used the negative parts of the dies to help me with the alignment while I was stamping the open images from Holiday Post stamp set using MISTI tool and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Finally I spent some happy time coloring the image with copic markers.
And, as always, here’s the complete list of all the COPIC MARKERS used on this project: cat YR30-YR31-Y21-YR24; dog E0000-E30-E31-E33-E35; T0-T1-T3; R00-R20-R22-R24-R46; YG00-YG01-YG07; G20-G24-G46; BG10-BG11-BG23.
An extended A2 size white card base (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) was trimmed and scored from Neenah Solar White paper. I masked two sides of the card front with a sticky tape and inked at an angle the light blue background with Simon Says Stamp Sea Glass dye ink and the blending brush, trying to give an ombré effect that fades into white. Next I stamped the sentiment from Holiday Post set and added a few snowflakes to the background by stamping some with Simon Says Stamp Surf Blue ink, heat embossing the others with a white embossing powder or simply drawing a few with a white gel pen. Finally I popped the colored critters on a foam tape for a fun dimensional look and finished with a few clear sequins.
My second card that features Christmas Roundabout stamp set, turned out as a holiday ornament. This card can also be used as a Christmas home decor or as a gift tag. This time I started directly with stamping on Copic X-Press paper using Christmas Roundabout stamp set. I framed the stamped image with a faux stitched die from Circle Frames Die Set and colored everything with copic markers.
These are all the colors used by me on this card: COPIC MARKERS R20-R22-R24-R26; BG10-BG11-BG23; YG00-YG01-YG07; T0-T1.
A slightly larger scalloped die from the same Circle Frames Die Set was used to create the card base. I die cut the die twice from a light gray cardstock and then glued together the top parts of both layers. An ornamental silver sparkling top was also die cut twice from Ornamental Shaker Die Set and adhered from both sides on the card base. Finally I assembled all the layers and finished with a matching grayish silver bow and a few clear sparkling sequins.
