Hello and welcome to Day 3 of the Newton’s Nook August release!
All the new August products will be available for purchase on Friday, August 21st at Newton’s Nook Designs online store and other craft retailers!
Halloween stuff is overwhelming the day 3 of the release with super adorable Batty Newton stamp set that comes with the coordinating Batty Newton Die Set. Then there’s another addition to the roundabout series of stamps with sweet and scary Spooky Roundabout stamp set that obviously, like others, coordinates with Circle Frames Die Set. And more… the matching Spiderweb Stencil is a marvellous product to use on the Halloween cards.
Giveaway alert!! NND is giving away new Batty Newton and Spooky Roundabout stamp sets to lucky winners so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!
My first card features the cutest Batty Newton stamp set. I started working on Neenah Solar White paper and die cut the kitty shape plus a couple of small bats using the coordinating Batty Newton Die Set. I saved and used the negative parts of the dies inside my MISTI tool to help me with the alignment while I was making the stamping using Batty Newton stamp set and Memento Tuxedo Black ink. Finally I colored the batty Newton with copic markers and then added a few white dots and accents with a white gel pen.
As always, I’m leaving you all the exact colors used on this project: COPIC MARKERS cat YR20-YR21-YR24-YR27-E99 plus RV0000-RV02; V0000-V01-V12-V09.
The matching purple background was painted on a piece of inexpensive watercolor paper that I had on hand. I used regular watercolors and kept everything very simple and easy purposely giving to the pattern an uneven and splotchy look. I heat set the watercolor piece and then applied new Spiderweb Stencil on top with a plain white embossing paste. I let the background piece air dry and meanwhile trimmed and score an extended A2 size card base (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) plus another additional slightly smaller rectangle with a circle window towards the center die cut from Circle Frames Die Set. The sentiment from the same Batty Newton stamp set was simply heat embossed on a strip of a black card stock. At this point I assembled all the elements together using foam tape for a fun dimensional look.
The Spooky Roundabout stamp set was transformed into a shaker card that still was very easy to create. To start, I stamped the main image on Neenah Solar White paper with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and colored the whole piece with copic markers.
In case you’re interested, here’s the complete list of all the colors used by me on this project: COPIC MARKERS B32-B23-B39 plus colorless blender 0; Y13-Y15-Y17; C0-C2; T1-T3-T5-T7; YR04-YR07; YG01-YG67.
The card base has an extended A2 size (5 1/2″ X 4 1/4″) and was created from a light gray cardstock. Assembling the card, I adhered the colored piece directly on the card base. The shaker part is a simply trimmed additional rectangle slightly smaller than the card base where I die cut a circle window using the coordinating Circle Frames Die Set. I glued a piece of clear acetate to the back side of the circle window, popped the whole element on a foam tape and filled the shaker area with a few clear round and star shape sequins. The last finish touch gave a heat embossed sentiment placed on a 3D banner from Banner Trio Die Set.
