Today’s Introductions include… fabulous Mermaid Kisses stamp set filled with lots amazing images and cute sentiments and the coordinating SugarCut Mermaid Kisses. There’s a new stand along Scale Cover Plate die too that is big enough to cover the whole card front!
For my stop on today’s hop, I came out with a cute under the sea scene! To start, I dei cut a mermaid plus a few small images from Strathmore Bristol paper using SugarCut Mermaid Kisses. Next I stamped the coordinating images from Mermaid Kisses stamp set with VersaFine Onyx Black ink and proceeded with coloring.
I used Tombow markers today paired with a small water brush from Pentel: n.055, n.195, n.665, n.723, n.905, n.912, n.925, n.933, n.942, n.946.
Instead of using Scale Cover Plate as a die, I placed a squishy rubber mat under the paper into the “sandwich” for the die cutting machine, ran it through and finished with an embossed pattern for the background. I took a small rectangle die from Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles Die Set and made an extended window using a partial die cutting technique. I also prepared on a piece of a watercolor cardstock a splotchy background by smooching Distress inks with a piece of a clear plastic. In terms of colors, I applied Blueprint Sketch, Mermaid Lagoon and Cracked Pistachio shades. Completing the watercolor background, I heat embossed some fish schools and bubbles with a white embossing powder. Finally I started assembling all the elements together by popping them on a foam tape for a dimensional look. I finished this card with a heat embossed sentiment from the same Mermaid Kisses stamp set.
