Today all the Design Team is kicking off a super adorable Deer Friend stamp set that has become one of my favorites because it’s filled with such DEER images and sentiments perfect both for special occasions and for a simply friend card. This set also has the coordinating dies that you can get apart.

Giveaway alert!! NND is giving new Deer Friend stamp set away to one lucky winner so make sure you read all the way to the bottom of this post to see how to win!

For me the cute deers were just screaming for watercoloring. And so I first die-cut one from a watercolor paper using the coordinating dies along with a few tiny leaves and flowers because I find that it’s easily to align the negative part of the die into a stamping positioning tool and then make stamping! Plus it goes much faster in case you need to do multiple stamping of the same image!

While the watercolor elements were drying, I started working on the background. First of all I created the tag similar to what I did for the first day of the release, die-cutting the tag twice from Fancy Edges Tag Die Set using a light green and white cardstock, creating a fancy edge on the white one and then heat embossing the sentiment from the same Deer Friend stamp set. (In case you missed this post, you can catch it up right here.) Then I used just released Tumbling Hearts Stencil and create my own colorful embossing paste by simply mixing a regular white one with Twisted Citron Distress Oxide ink. Assembling the card, I popped some elements onto a foam tape for a bit of dimension and added a little bow on the top part of the tag.

  1. Oh Dear! How adorable is this stamp set and the super cute card you created! I love the yellow hearts in the background too – definitely worth the effort ❤

  2. Such a wonderful card I really like how you use the stencil for the background and the tag element to focus on the image.

  3. This is a great use of other materials, like the tag. Love how you incorporated that with this sweet stamp set. Love it!

  4. Oh, your wonderful choice of colors gives this a very Spring and fresh feel! Love the layers of flowers with the tag design.

  5. I admire people who can make tags look like they belong on cards. I…have yet to figure out that trick; they just look like a tag slapped on a card base. So well done for that, and I love the falling hearts stencil in the background. Bold choice on the twisted citron, but I think it works really well. Thanks for sharing your creativity with us!

  6. So cute! Love the way you used the stencil. Great color choices and the twine bow really adds a striking extra touch!
