Newton’s Nook Designs September Release and Giveaway – Day 4 – Newton’s Costume Party

Hello and welcome to the last day of the Newton’s Nook Designs September Release!

I swear that all Newton’s fans and crazy cat ladies like me (LOL!!!) were waiting for a new kitty set and this one will not disappoint you for sure!!!

No need to tell you that I’m super excited about this new stamp set since it couldn’t be any cuter and now you can finally dress your sweet pets in fun costumes! At least on your cards! LOL!!! All that crazy cuteness comes with Newton’s Costumes Party stamp set and the coordinating dies which have an additional value in this case! But if you don’t have the die cutting machine, no worries, read this post to find out how you can use this stamp set without the coordinating dies!

 My first card is super simple and cute! I die cut the cutie kitty and the accessorizes and then made stamping with a black waterproof ink aligning the negative part of the die in my stamping positioning tool!

Once finished watercoloring with Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers, I made a super simple watercolor night sky background with regular watercolors this time and applied some stars with a white embossing paste and Starfield Stencil.

Assembling the card, I added a die cut circle colored as the moon and some clouds die cut from Sky Borders die set. Finally I stamped the sentiment with the same black ink I used before and added afew finish touches: a shimmer pen and some sequins!

Don’t have a die cutting machine! No worries!!! My second card shows you how to use Newton’s Costumes Party stamp set without the coordinating dies! A simple masking technique will help you to dress up the cute kitties!

Basically for masking technique you need to stamp the costume first then stamp it again on a masking paper or post it, cut out a mask and apply it on top of you stamped costume and only then proceed with stamping the kitty. When you lift the mask, you’ll get the dressed kitty.

On my card I decided to reproduce the same scene, making almost one layer card with the same masking technique I talked before! Here are the steps to follow for the complete scene: stamp and mask the costume first, stamp and mask the kitty, die cut from Sky Borders die set and apply the cloud line, finally die cut a circle and place it as the moon. Add color to the sky with ink blending technique and the stars with Starfield Stencil. Lift up only the moon part of the mask and add color to it. Finally lift up all other masks and color the kitty. Honestly it’s not difficult at all as it may seem and doen’t take too much time!!!
