You Always Lift Me Up – Interactive Card

NND Lift Me Up 2016 (1)

Happy Tuesday!

And thanks for joining me here on my blog! Today I’m sharing a super cute interactive card that became quite popular now!

The interactive mechanism (watch the video here) was made completely by myself by cutting on the front panel two parallel lines with my regular paper trimmer (you can use a craft knife and a ruler instead) and then snipping the ends at 90 angle degree with scissors. Basically I finished to have a long narrow rectangle on the front panel. Then you need to adhere two cent coins one above the other on the back site of your fussy cut image with a very strong adhesive. The next step is to add a couple of foam dots on top of the coins (you can use foam squares too and shape them with your scissors like I did on this card, but the foam dots will make your life much easier. Recently I bought a pack from American Crafts and can’t recommend them enough for the interactive cards. They are super strong and very thick so that one layer is more than enough.) Afterwards you need to slide the foam dots into the rectangle and adhere two other coins on the back side of the front panel to block the die-cut image. Of course, the rectangle must be larger than the diameter of your foam dots, but more narrow than you cent coins. Finally you need to put the front panel on the foam adhesive and add it to your card base. To be honest, it’s more difficult to describe than do. And it doesn’t take much time at all.

Now a very few words about the rest of the card. I did an ombre background blending some distress inks (I’ll leave all the colors I used at the bottom of the post) and tried to do a sort of ombre copic coloring on the cute Newton image and the hot air balloon from Newton Dreams of Paris stamp set too. Just to make them match and tie all the elements together. Some little finish touches and ever-present sequins completed the card.

You can find more ombre cards and inspiration on Newton’s Nook Designs blog as this card is also my entry to their Inky Paws Challenge #33 – Ombre.
