You know I can’t resist to the cute cat stamps and this ADORABLE couple of kitties happens to be my favorite from Newton’s Nook Christmas Release. I just can’t stop playing with them and this time I came out with a watercolor project (here you can find my copic colored version).
All this cuteness is form Newton’s Christmas Cuddles and Newton’s Curios Christmas stamp sets. I used the coordinating dies too to cut out the kitties and a small heart.

To put together this card I worked separately on the cats image and the background. I even chose different watercolor papers: for the kitties I used Arches Hot Press Watercolor Paper (I can’t recommend it enough for no-line coloring) and for the background – a more textured Strathmore Watercolor Paper. But both elements were done with distress inks.
On the background I proceeded in different layers applying them from lightest to darkest and letting dry every single layer before applying the next one. As the result I achieved a typical watercolor look with some lines and bleaches. I wished to give the impression that the light comes from the Moon so I left a light halo around.
Of course, the kitties were colored like my one (he is the Sacred Cat of Burma). I used Antique Linen distress ink for outline stamping and made a little bit more shading then usual since it’s a night scene. I really like how they turned out.

After adhering kitties on the foam tape, I added a few final touches with white gel pen and Wink of Stella Clear Glitter pen. Hope you can see all the shine on the up-close look.
