Holiday Card Series 2014 # 8 – Merry & Bright

Merry&Bright 2014 (1)

Hi, guys!

Today I’m back with another post for the Holiday Card Series. This card is all about die-cutting. I started with a piece of Neenah cardstock and ran it through my Big Shot a few times to create a star sky. Then I added color to the background with distress inks.

I want to share with you some tips. I die-cut the stars before applying distress ink. In this way when I applied the ink, the edge of the stars became darker and allowed me to emphasize the die-cut stars on the night sky background against the white card base. Otherwise I would finished to have the white edge on the stars which means to have less contrast with the white background you see through the die-cuts.

The cute scene on the snow bank was die-cut from SSS Village set. The side pattern was embossed white on white with SSS Snowflake stencil and Wendy Vecchi Embossing Paste to create some interest, but not distract from the main scene. Another die-cuts used on the card are SSS Maryanne Snowflake and MFT Stitched Circle. The white embossed sentiment completed everything.

Hope you like it! And if you have any question feel free to leave it below.

Bye,

Tatiana
